A comment I just received in my email inbox,

"Loved this article! I’ve recently (passed 3 months) switched back over to grass fed local cow milk. I was on plant based milks for well over a decade. After some personal downward health spirals, I’ve noticed a slow but steady increase in my health. I’m a dairy believer again!"

I just wanted to share as I know MANY of us don't do well with dairy (which is totally valid), but MANY of us *do* hand it well (also valid!). It's all about listening to *your* body on what feels good ◡̈

Totally align with this post. I never try to shame my friends but I’m always like… I don’t like oat milk 🙃 LOL It has always left a weird aftertaste in my mouth and given me a stomachache. I hate when it’s the only dairy free option at coffee shops — I drink it sparingly and when I have to… it definitely hurts my stomach less than dairy milk 🥲

FWIW I use coconut milk — I don’t mind the taste and I think it blends into coffee better than almond milk.

I LOVE cashew milk but it’s also been noted that most cashews are not ethically harvested/harms workers.

Thank for sharing! I loooove a good coconut milk, as well. I totally hear ya with the cashew milk-- like, can't there be ONE un-problematic milk out there?!

Thank you for speaking up about the importance of regenerative farming and the truly healthy food that comes from there and not just for ourselves but the planet and the animals!

Kate... this is breaking my heart even though I know deep down that you're right 😂

I have been lactose intolerant pretty much my whole life and when I found oat milk I felt like I could actually enjoy lattes and tea for the first time, it was soo creamy and yummy. But I've been seeing the posts about blood sugar and then when I actually read the ingredients on my beloved Oatly-- I'm just crushed hahaha

I have been slowly incorporating raw milk and am so far able to tolerate it! It's actually shocked me how I've been able to bring high quality dairy back into my diet through raw milk and grass-fed local butter after YEARS of being strictly dairy-free. When I start to think about it, it just makes sense that we would eat whole foods/ancestral foods over the highly processed stuff we are told is 'healthier' today. Anyway, hoping that can be my replacement, if not I guess it's back to sad almond milk. 😂

Thanks for always sharing such great, informative information in your posts!

Isn't it SO FUN to experiment and play around and *feel* what our body naturally does/doesn't do well with? So cool.

I remember from awhile ago you shared on your Instagram that whole milk was for you and why, very similar to what you said in this post. I've since switched to whole, organic milk also, and I have similarities with your client! So thankful for that!

What urks me about toxins in our foods is so often it's followed with, "...and these are banned in the EU." What is up with the USA and not blocking these toxins? It seems so simple and yet...here we are 🥲

So glad you have had a positive experience when switching your milk! Adore you (as always), Monica!

I'm late to this party, but I struggle with consuming even high-quality dairy products. :-/ However, a friend of mine just turned me on to A2A2 dairy; I tried grass-fed A2A2 yogurt and experienced no issues! Fingers crossed that I have a similar positive experience with the milk!

Hi Kate, this makes a lot of sense, sad though because I love an oat milk coffee in the cold months. I notice you didn’t mention soy milk, where does that fit in the scheme of things?

Kate, can you talk to any info you have on Goat's milk being used in lieu of cow's milk and oat milk? My body tolerates small portions of grass-fed organic half & half but my husband does not. We switched to oat milk out of necessity because he doesn't like coconut or almond or cashew milks. Would you give a thumb's up to Goat's milk?

Hello, beautiful! I think goat milk can be a great option. Many people who are sensitive to dairy do wonderfully with it. I think the taste can be off-putting for some. However, if your husband likes oatmilk and it does well with his body, that's just fine ◡̈ ◡̈ Everyone is different!

I’ve noticed most it’s oat milks that actually have MORE fat per serving than almond or nut milk... because of the added seed oil.

Curious - what are your views on coffees impact on blood sugar itself?

As for coffee, I do have a lot of thoughts-- more than I can fit in a comment, tehe. Adding that to a list of potential topics!

Great point! I was personally referencing the brand of “malk” for oat milk in this post (as it is the most pure and best option in my opinion!) they don’t add industrial seed oils so the total fat is lower per serving where other brands have up a substantial amount of fat per serving (largely made up of industrial seed oils). Such a great example of how quality matters!

Totally! Yes to the Malk option (wishing there were more like this) and Elmhurst
