So incredibly timely for me, thank you for this post! I started counseling last month for the first time in my life and something that came up was using self-compassion, which feels closely related to this post. The phrase that I’ve been using is “it’s okay that I didn’t/couldn’t…” Wanted to add this thought here in case it can help someone else 🥰

So not exactly related to this post, but thought I would shared because your posts inspired this idea! I teach a lifestyle considerations in nursing course and I am going to start including a section at the end of each module in Blackboard called “module moods” so I can share a meal, song, book recommendation, journal prompts and other resources related to whatever the topic is for that module!

“Don’t pick green tomatoes” -- woah. So good. I actually had a light bulb moment this week when I realized my worries *usually* are about what MIGHT happen. Such a simple realization but a powerful one. Really helped me empower myself to know I will handle whatever MAY happen, IF it happens.

Also a note on gratitude - so incredible to think that truly all the good peace and joy you feel in your life is ultimately a result of being rooted in gratitude. I also felt that realizing gratitude is a practice was particularly transformative for me.

I love your #7 and to name what’s true. I can get so lost in the what ifs and overthink it. Listing what’s true and good is calming and I love the reminder to ask what can I control and do it and what can’t I control and surrender it. I needed that reminder this week! Hope you’re feeling better!

We got the stomach bug too and had to reschedule our son’s first birthday party because of it 😭 but your first tip is helpful to think about! Yes it was sad to cancel, but at least we got over it in a couple days and didn’t spread to all the family 🙂

I’m a chronic “what if-er” and will definitely be telling myself not to pick green tomatoes moving forward! A witty way to lighten to mood & get honest with it
