Just started re-reading Wintering last week, as the cooler air sets in here - along Lake Michigan in Chicago. Katherine May's writing is beautiful and spell binding. The book is a powerful reminder of the grace of the seasons & how we can honor the changes that come with the slower days of winter. Could not recommend more - book club or otherwise.
Loved this first issue! And I'm casting my vote for "Wintering" as well. It's been on my list for quite some time and it feels perfectly timed for the coming (but hopefully not too soon) winter season!
I love this format!! Can’t wait to see more. I’d be happy with either - Power of Less calls to me the most at this time with my own goals and the consumerism that can occur this time of year. BUT I saw someone mentioning wintering now & power of less in the spring and I can see those ebbs and flows as well! :)
2. Baker and gluten free maker here- psyllium husk is a game changer for gf breads! The Loopy Whisk has loads of gf recipes that are delicious and come close to the real thing
Meal planning is the best ...my husband and I love cooking & eating at home but with our meal plan I often find us looking forward to cooking or eating that meal (instead of ‘hmmm I am so hungry because it is 5:30pm what can we make quickly ?)
I also find that my fridge ingredients are used up more readily as they are organized into the meal plan ... as well as my pantry staples.
It takes 5 minutes but makes a whole bunch of difference for the week.
Hi Kate, I haven’t made it myself but quirky cooking/Jo whitton in Australia makes gf bread and I think gf sourdough too. Look up her website/instagram. She’s also usually very responsive if asked cooking questions. Good luck on your quest!
Also for meal planning and keeping track of a ton of recipes from online that we like and will make again - we use the app Mela. You do have to pay for it, but they have a phone, iPad, and MacBook app! It’s a game changer because you can add ingredients directly to a list, and multiple people can view the recipes - so it’s easy to switch off who is making what!
I vote for Power of Less! Meal planning is such a game changer, especially when life is busy. Thinking ahead of time means less decision making at cook time and less stress.

I vote for Wintering - I’d love to dive into how to make the most of the cold and not just be hunkered down and sad 🤣

I want to read both! BUT I feel like “wintering” is great for this current season and “the power of less” is a perfect fit for spring.
1. Love this!

Thank you so much for the rec!!! I need all the help I can get!
You’re welcome! You’ll have to keep us updated!
Wintering sounds wonderful!

I vote for the power of less!
Loved reading this, Kate! And I feel you on the grocery to meal issue. I’ve been struggling with it too!
My goal this fall/winter is to get a bread machine so I can make homemade bread! And there’s nothing better than the smell of it baking

I vote for power of less!
My vote is for The Power of Less! Also, I remember your Black Friday spree last year and I was SO impressed with all you snagged for such good deals!!
Reaaaally with you on the meal plan thing. I don’t know why I struggle so hard with this but it would be a complete game changer!
Also both books sound great, but I’ve been wanting to read Wintering for years and was literally just thinking about finally getting it!
