How To Make An Herbal Infusion 🌱 A Step-By-Step Guide
plus, 4 of the best herbs for beginners
As you’ve probably noticed by now, I’m passionate about sharing holistic health topics responsibly—no fluff, no fear-mongering, no over-exaggerated claims. Just real, practical, [science-backed] wisdom.
Psssst: if you’re new here (welcome! 👋🏼), here are a few topics we’ve explored on The Reset:
And one topic that I get asked about constantly? Herbalism!
There’s a lot of questions— How do you start? Which herbs actually work? And how do you realistically fit them into daily life without feeling like you need to forage in the woods or start a potion-making side hustle?

Although I have a strong foundation in herbalism for personal use (thanks to graduate-level courses I took during my doctorate), I’m not a practicing herbalist—and I want to be respectful of that distinction.
But lucky for us? I happen to know someone who is. And she’s incredible.
Enter: Joanna of Mammal Herbs. 🌀 Jo and I actually met through a mutual friend during my time working at Mayo Clinic, and we have stayed in touch over the years.
It’s been so beautiful (and inspiring!) to watch her journey unfold— from working as a lawyer to leaving it all behind to pursue her herbalism career.
Joanna is truly one of the most intelligent people I know, and today, she’s sharing some wisdom with us! ⬇️
🌱 Today, we’ll dive into…
A quick video tutorial (think Herbalism 101!) on how to create an herbal infusion, complete with visuals and written instructions.
The exact materials you’ll need to get started (plus, where Joanna sources quality herbs!),
And 4 amazing, beginner-friendly herbs — one for digestion, one for nervous system regulation, one for inflammation, and one for replenishing nutrient stores.
✨ My hope is that this post cuts through the overwhelm (because there are countless herbs and countless ways to prepare them!) and instead serves as a tangible starting place for beginners who simply want to infuse a bit of health and wellness into their day.
No fluff, no overly-complicated jargon, just an easy, practical guide to bringing herbs into your daily life. ⬇️ Let’s do this!
