Iβm not sure about you, but it is straight up EASY to find yourself livinβ on autopilot modeβ going through the motions, having each day be largely the βsameβ, & falling into old habits.
β¦Again.
And again.
And again.
But, donβt be too hard on yourselfβ itβs human nature! Despite our best intentions, it can be straight up HARD to break existing habit loops. And thereβs a reason for that.
As humans our neural networks often subconsciously nudge us towards repeating the same things over and over again. Simply put, our brains are quite literally wired to crave repetition, comfortable habits, & familiar thought loops.
For example, tell me if this sounds familiarβ¦
You may have intentions ofβ¦.
doing things differently (waking up early! actually taking our supplements consistently! reading more!),
trying to build healthy habits (meditation! cooking more at home! running a 5K!), or
starting a new hobby (pottery! pilates! writing!),
But, yet⦠you find it difficult to actually put it into practice & take action on those desires.
What if we thought about these goals in a different wayβ
Instead of trying to cultivate a new habit through sheer force, grit, & βchallengeβ, what if we simply experimented? Hear me out.
Which form of goal-setting sounds more fun, curiosity-provoking, & exciting?
π€ I WILL meditate every day.
π€ I WILL go to bed earlier
π€ I WILL reduce my screen time.
ORRRβ¦β¦β¦
π€ If I meditated every day for a week, what would I notice?
π€ If I started going to bed every day at 10PM, how would I feel?
π€ If I deleted social media from my phone, what changes would occur?
Doesnβt simply phrasing those goals in a question, more-experimental manner seem a lot more FUN and enticing? Like, what would happen?
In the spirit of that, Iβm turning 2024 into my year of self-experimentation.
Each month of this year Iβll be *experimenting* with one new habit for an entire month and then reflecting honestly here on Substack.
Maybe Iβll love the new habit, maybe I wonβt. Maybe it will be super impactful. And perhaps it wonβt. But, regardless, Iβm ready to try. To experiment. and notice.
12 months. 12 different experiments. Iβm so excited to come back here each month and share what I learned, what was challenging, what was rewarding, and what Iβm going to keep up throughout the rest of the year.
Hereβs a peek at whatβs in storeβ
1 experiment. 1 month at a time.
For example, since January 1st, I have been tracking my budget every. single. day., and itβs already been so INSIGHTFUL.
The funny thing? I have tried to do a money check-in daily prior to this, but I always lost steam.
Itβs amazing how much more motivated I feel when I simply approach it with an attitude of curiosity instead of force.
Iβve taking meticulous notes throughout the process, and canβt wait to share all the aha budgeting & financial moments Iβve had. That post will be coming in the next week or twoβ make sure youβre subscribed to hear that full reflection. ;)Β
12 months of experiments, self-growth, & trying new things!
And the best part? Tracking my spending every day for a month is just one of the topics we are going to deep-dive on in 2024.
Once a month for the next year I will be trying some of my ideas and some of yours for a month straight and letting you know what I learned and what my takeaways are.Β Below Iβve outlined some of the ideas, habits, & rituals I want to try, but I would love to be a guinea pig for YOU βΒ
I want to hear your ideas for what I should do as a 30-day challenge in the comment section, as well as feedback you have or topics you particularly want me to discuss.

Which of these are you most excited about? What other ideas do you have? Drop a comment to let me know β‘Μ

How can you cultivate this idea in your own life?
The fun things about βexperimentingβ is that it feels less pressured. Instead of feeling like you HAVE to stick with something, itβs more of a trial run. Maybe waking up early will improve your life, or maybe Iβll find that you benefit more from the extra sleep. But you wouldnβt know unless ya truly tried. And thatβs what itβs all about!
What is something youβve been meaning to do (waking up early, carving out time for creativity, experimenting with your style, taking you vitamins, etc.) that you can show up for yourself for the next 30 days?Β
Whether itβs as simple as reading before bed instead of scrolling or something more disciplined like cutting out alcohol or doing a no-spend month, I encourage you to *experiment* this week, this month, this year!
Approach the new habit with a spirit of playfulness, curiosity, & wonder.
What would change?
How would you feel?
How could this fit into my life?
What would I learn?
Iβm genuinely so excited to approach life this way for the next 12 months and to chat with you guys all along the way.

So this year, I want to encourage you βΒ
In your own life, where can you experiment this year? Try something new? Be CURIOUS? Where could you break a pattern? Be a bit more playful? Could you mix things up?
How can YOU break yourself out of that all-too-common autopilot mode? And, ultimately, how could you EXPERIMENT in your life?
Life is simply too short to get stuck doing the same olβ, same olβ for years on end.
Ready, set, experiment!Β
If anything, I hope this post reminded you that you donβt always have to grit your teeth in order to implement a new habit.
What if you simply tried? Wondered? Noticed? Experimented? And approached it with the curiosity of seeing what would happen?
Iβm genuinely so excited to share these mini month-long experiments with you. Make sure to drop a comment letting me know some things I should try in my month-long βexperimentsβ. (they donβt necessarily have to be wellness related!) and Iβll toss what resonates on my list.
And, for my paid subscribers, Iβll see you at the end of this month for a [very specific] recap on challenge numero unoβ tracking my spending every day for one month. Letβs do this!

SONG OF THE WEEK: Wow, what a BOPβ βMaking Loveβ by Sir Woman. This song came on my βdiscoverβ feed and I instantly loved it. But even more grabbing, I just knew I recognized the singerβs voice, but couldnβt place it. Turns out the singer, Kelsey Wilson, used to be one half of the band, Wild Child. Ding, ding, ding! I absolutely loved that band in college, so discovering this song felt like connecting with an old friend. A must-listen!
JOURNAL PROMPT OF THE WEEK: βWhat would it look like to approach my goals with a spirit of curiosity and ease?β
This absolutely spoke to me and sums up how I have been feeling! I now feel like I have so many ideas for things to try!
Yes! As a naturally curious person (who also gets overwhelmed easily)..this perspective shift feels like a game changer! ππ» Will definitely be trying this.
