Love this! One focus of mine this summer is to get out in nature as much as possible! Just makes me feel like a new person!

Love this intention, Stefanie! ✨🌸💦

Being in nature is my favorite cure for anything!

I love this! Can we be accountability partners? I feel like I need someone to remind me to get outside for more than just walking to and from my car running around as it feels I'm having to do.

Love love love this!! I was in one of your Foundations of Wellness groups & remember learning to eat my food in a specific order, but I didn’t actually implement it (silly me!). Then I started listening to podcasts with The Glucose Goddess and switched my breakfasts to savory breakfasts & ate in the right order & woooow, that alone has made such a difference!!

Thanks for all the other recs! I feel like it’s all stuff we hear about occasionally but seeing the research is a good little nudge to start implementing the practices!! 🤎

I learned so much from the Glucose Goddess! Even small changes made a huge difference in how I felt too.

Love love love hearing how managing your blood sugar has helped you both! It is such an unsexy, but important topic!

Love each of these ways and I realized I have been doing most of them already!

I have always wanted a sauna. Especially for during the winter.

I recently did an elimination diet for my digestive issues and have consistently been not eating dairy or gluten since then and have definitely noticed a change!

That’s awesome, Leanna! And sometimes it takes something external like a list to remind you of all the things you are *already* doing! So great ☺️☺️

I love that turmeric and ginger trader joes tea! It's a staple in my tea drawer. Now to try and be consistent with this whole dry brushing thing 😆 I decided April is the month I meditate once a day after reading about the Feb challenge and I am feeling good about that small habit as well.

Isn’t the ginger-turmeric tea THE BEST?! I don’t have a Trader Joe’s near me so I have my friends mail it to me 🤣🤣🤣

Whew, it’s been a while since I hopped on here but this was a good one! Think I’m going to be more consistent with my gua sha/dry brushing routine starting this week. Also love the idea of taking stress inventory!

YAY! I’m right with ya— this post inspired me to get back to my dry brushing morning routine! I’d fallen out of it, but I genuinely miss it! (And my dry skin & puffiness do too 🤣)

I also want to start dry brushing again. I feel like I do it more in the winter - but I need to start again!

Dry brushing has become a part of my daily morning routine and I love it!

Very timely! I failed my 1 hr glucose test and going for my three hour on Monday. Can you share your continue glucose monitor? I’m really trying to learn more about balancing sugars to finish off this pregnancy strong. I made it to 30 weeks! 🥰

You've got this, Karen! I used a CGM during my pregnancy and found it really helpful. The one I particularly recommend is called Nutrisense because you get complimentary 1:1 support from a dietician to interpret your results and help you throughout ◡̈ I have a coupon code "KATE25" to say money on it! (Note: I am an affiliate for them now, but I first found and reached out to them on my own!)

Kate! Once again you hit several nails on the head!

I did a Whole30 and am now pushing it to a Whole90. Go Big or Go Home! Eh? I’m amazed at the changes that have come about with eating properly. I had 3 days of SAD eating last weekend. And after a few days of recovery I find myself wondering if I can find a way to make everyone in the world understand that how they feel every day JUST AIN’T NORMAL!!!

I feel great when I’m eating 90% whole

foods. My household complains and whines about feeling so bloated, stuffed, achy, etc~ fill in the blank. They see me- with MS, in a wheelchair, feeling AWESOME!

And yet, big business tells them to eat whatever they’re peddling at the moment because life is too short not to eat uber processed sugar bombs. Eat happy! Hospitals need you!

Ahhh, once again I thank you for letting get on my soapbox. Now, since it’s beautiful outside in MN~ I’m off to soak in the sun and meditate! I love you, lady~~~♥️♥️♥️

Such great tips Kate! One of my dreams for the future is to have an outdoor sauna…eventually we will move to the country to be closer to my husbands farm…no I will not be homesteading, but I will be sauna-ing 😂

Couldn’t agree more! Our last house had an outdoor sauna that we used ALL the time. Currently saving up slowly but surely to get an outdoor sauna at this house!!!

Loved this! QQ: are allergies also a sign of chronic inflammation?

I’m constantly sneezing despite using a nasal spray to provide relief.

Expand full comment

Hmmm, while I am never one to say ONE THING *causes* anything, inflammation can definitely *contribute* to a state of "hypervigilence" in the body with over-the-top reactions to triggers, nasal discharge, etc. Something I would definitely chat with a functional medical doctor about!

Okay but am I doing something wrong? I feel like the dry brush hurts-like scratches me and doesn’t feel good to sensitive skin girlie.

Expand full comment
author

Sorry to hear that! Everyone’s skin and sensitivity is so different— my guess is you have a short bristle brush (more coarse). I would try to find a longer bristle dry brush (much more soft but still gets it done!)

Hey Kate! Do you know if there are any CGMs that don’t require a monthly subscription?

Hmmmm, I don't know of any that are commercially available. There are many that your doctor could prescribe if you had a qualifying diagnosis. I personally will just use mine for 1 month and then cancel it. Sorry, I don't have a more helpful answer!

This does help!! 1 month and cancelling is a good idea! Thank you :)

Absolutely loved this post!! I definitely want to implement so many of these. Since the Foundations of Wellbeing earlier this year, I’ve been trying to pay attention to order or eating and getting more protein in for breakfast. I’ve also been able to redefine what a “workout” is. I don’t have to do an intense HIIT workout every day. I can go on a walk and it counts. I need to listen to my body. I’ve also been adding dry brushing and gua sha in more and I love it. I would LOVE to get a sauna sometime! Thank you for all of the ideas!!

Kate~ Mark Sisson must have been listening to you. Here’s a great article about getting back to nature. Truly a great way to work on reducing your inflammation!
