the best gift I've ever received 🥹 (like, actually...)
Sunday R.E.S.E.T. #19 ☕️
Hello, hello, and Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate!
As you read this, I am likely either sipping coffee, attempting to get to church on time (for once🤞🏼), or chasing around my toddler as he does his first real egg hunt. I doubt he’ll totally understand the premise of the activity, but we’re rollin’ with it! 🤷🏻♀️🤣
As I mentioned in the post “30 Random Life Rules on My 30th Birthday”, I just turned the big 3-0 last week 🫢 And, honestly? Turning thirty feels right. I’m genuinely excited about this new decade.
So, in light of that, this Sunday R.E.S.E.T. is not explicitly birthday themed, but it will cover a few highlights from this week, unique gift idea(s), and reflective writing prompts for your (or a loved ones!) special day.
In this Sunday R.E.S.E.T.
🌸RECOMMENDING: A fun & creative “girls night” activity.
🎁ENJOYING: The BEST present I’ve ever received. (And it was 100% free…)
☕️SHOPPING: Some beautiful & unique coffee mugs from etsy that I recently gave as a gift ◡̈
📪ENHANCING: I am a sucker for a handwritten note, and here is my absolute favorite small business to buy stationary items, greeting cards, or beautiful journals.
💭THINKING: 5 writing prompts for reflecting on this season of your life.
Let’s get into it!
If you are looking for a chill (yet creative!) idea for a girls night, head to your local Trader Joe’s or flower farm, pick up a few bouquets of inexpensive flowers, grab some scissors, and let everyone make their own bouquet!
Like, how cute is this?!
My friend, Amanda, planned this Sunday morning of my birthday weekend, and it was so fun & simple. I feel like it is the perfect “activity” to do because it doesn’t require too much focus, it isn’t super time-intensive, and it doesn’t require a ton of prep or mess yet you get to leave with a beautiful, creative souvenir. Highly recommend for your next birthday party, girls night, baby shower, or small gathering!
And just a quick note of sappiness—
When I entered my 20s, I was celebrating my whilst on college Spring Break, doing stereotypical 20-year-old things: staying out until 2AM, juggling my courses and extracurriculars, and living in tiny, crappy college house with my best friends.
And somehow here I am today... a decade later, celebrating with the same group of gals. 🥹
While we used all live crammed within the same 1,100 square feet, we now only get the whole crew together once or twice a year so it’s always sacred time.
And to pull off this birthday get-together, they planned and made it happen— one friend flew across the country with her 7-month-old to be there (a hero’s journey!), a pregnant pharmacist offered up her house to host (so kind), a medical resident utilized her very rare weekend off, another friend carved out time amidst hosting her international in-laws, and another friend packed up her toddler and drove 2+ hours to be there. I mean, c’mon 🥹 True effort & quality time— now, THAT is about as sweet as it gets. Like, actually.
Instead of “going out” until 2AM and pre-gaming to Drake, we wore pajamas all day, had Ms Rachel on in the background, rocked each other’s babies, casually sipped mocktails or a tasteful glass (or two) of cabernet, ordered takeout Greek food, and chatted until we went to bed at 11:00PM. Ahhhh, bliss.
—life is both slow and fast.
It felt so special to look around the room and usher in age 30 with the same people that were there at age 20. Life looks wildly different for all of us than it did 10 years ago, but our bond truly feels unchanged. It was just so, so special.
Okay, now for the best gift I’ve ever received. And I’m genuinely not exaggerating at all.
On the morning of my 30th, my husband brought me a STACK of papers in bed, and I was so confused.
Then, it started to become clear—
If you have someone in your life who has a bigger birthday or milestone coming up, I totally recommend giving them this gift (not to mention, it was 100% free…)
