Hey, hey, friend! Happy Thursday.
Here I am— again?!
Boppin’ in your inbox an extra time this week. Just because. No real “reason” aside from:
This is my favorite corner of the internet. I love my substack fam & just wanted to say hey.
I have some RANDOM thoughts to share (um, I’m about to tell you about a bird feeder??? Just trust me, ok.)
AND The Reset officially became a Substack bestseller and I wanted to celebrate! (WHAT?! Thank you for making that a reality!)
So, today, I am sending ya a hodgepodge of “just because” goodness—
5 random things I’m loving lately
4 of the latest & greatest posts from The Reset
3 quick health tips (that you can implement today!)
2 journal prompts for self-reflection
1 short ‘n’ sweet guided meditation for letting go
Let’s do it!
5 random things I’m loving lately:
1. MY BIRD-FEEDER: Guys. I got a bird-feeder. (Life comes at you fast…) Inspired by my Grandpa Sulo who insisted we get one, I found this beautiful option on etsy (here’s a cheaper option that I just discovered). It is so beautiful and calming to watch our new visitors— and from the millisecond we put it up, we have been having SO MANY neighborhood birdies frequent for a snack. I thought I would like having it, but, um, I love having it? *Brb, entering my bird watching era*
2. THESE MEAL-PREP TUPPERWARE CONTAINERS: I recently invested in pre-portioned meal prep glass containers. These are so sleek! Such a great way to compartmentalize my meals, separate out different foods, & stay organized in my meal prepping.
3. HOMEMADE CERAMICS: If you’ve been following along on insta for quite some time, you already know I am obsessed with beautiful ceramics, handmade pottery, and gorgeous clay pieces. Since it’s fall, cozy season is OFFICIALLY back & it brings me extra joy to pick out my mug of the day each morning. (While I don’t need any more— although I am tempted— here are a cute small business options I found for YOU: Cute Mugs 1, Cute Mug 2, Cute Mugs 3).
4. GETTIN’ A FULL HEALTH WORK-UP: For my personal healthcare management (as always, you do you!), I choose to see my naturopath (N.D.) for a general holistic check-up every 6 months and then once per year I see my doctor (M.D.) for my classic yearly physical. This balance of Eastern & Western Medicine is the PERFECT blend for me and my crunchy-yet-science-backed approach to wellbeing.
And while typically things are quite status quo in my health, after 2 years of being pregnant & breastfeeding, I am just feeling depleted and “off” in a few subtle ways. Soooo, I decided to be proactive and requested a full nutrient panel (just so I can find and target any nourishment gaps, deficiencies, etc.) and I am also do a thorough GI health assessment to get to the root of some things.
Do I think everyone NEEDS these assessments? No. Are they an investment? Yes. But I personally love & truly value seeing the data, metrics, and just investing in some labs every few years just to get a comprehensive picture of where I’m at (and where I want to go!).
I plan to cover this in much more detail in next month’s newsletter “6 Specific Things I am Working on With My Health Lately” (just a heads up that this topic will only be open to paid subscribers). In this upcoming post, I will share what’s well with my health, what is NOT (there’s a few things…), any interesting findings from the labs, and specifically what I am doing to improve my health in this season of life.
5. STINGING NETTLE TEA: Mmmmm, a classic herbal remedy for a reason. I have been making nettle tea infusions nearly every day lately just for general health (annnnd, let’s be real, I just love sippin’ cozy beverages all day, every day. Preferably out of a cute mug, of course). But, adorable ceramic mugs aside, don’t sleep on nettle leaves as a nutrient powerhouse—abundant in fiber, minerals, vitamins, and antioxidant compounds like polyphenols and carotenoids, it is such a beautiful, warming, health-promoting beverage. I truly look forward to making it and sippin’ it each day! (In case ya need a rec, I get this organic loose leaf version).

Hey, I get it— life moves fast, we’re all busy, and it’s easy to miss a post! So, to ensure you’re all caught up, here is a short ‘n’ sweet recap of some of the latest & greatest posts from The Reset:
3 easy health tip you can implement today:
Do a 5-minute Stretch: We often prioritize cardio, weight training, HIIT, etc…. yet it’s easy to forget about stretching. While it’s common to overlook, flexibility is an important part of health, agility, and improved musculoskeletal function throughout the lifespan. So, while a regular stretching routine is recommended, start small! However you can today, carve out 5 minutes to gently stretch your body today— it’s simple, but feels SO lovely.
Support Your Immune System & Incorporate More Garlic: I mean… who doesn’t love garlic? Not only is it delicious, but garlic has been used for centuries for its properties of empowering the immune system and its antioxidant effects. A 12-week study in nearly 150 people found that supplementing with garlic reduced the incidence of the common cold by about 30%. Delicious and immune-boosting. Bon Appétit!
Aim for at least 20g of protein per snack/meal: I don’t follow “rules” when it comes to eating, but there is one consistent nourishment pillar that I *try* to prioritize in my own life — and that is getting 20-30g of protein with each snack/meal. You don’t have to be super strict or perfect by any means, but just making a general effort to add more protein to your diet can be game changing for satiety, muscle recovery, and overall body composition. Try it for a few days & just see how you feel!
2 journal prompt for reflection:
A lesson I’ve learned recently is…
Who inspires me? Why do they inspire me? And how could I learn from them?
1 meditation for letting go:
What do you need to release? Whether it’s something small like a stressful morning, a minor annoyance, a comment that offended you, etc. orrrrr something bigger like a career concern, complicated relationship, or persistent anxious thought.
We ALL have something we could let go of…. (or, at the very least, loosen our grip of control)
In this short ‘n’ sweet guided meditation (led by me!), we are going to release our attachment to a situation, find peace in the unknown, and trust the timing of your life.
That’s all for today!
Alright, that’s all I got— a little 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 countdown of randomness.
But really just a bonus note to say hey & I’m grateful YOU are here.

Omggg that meditation is heavenly. It was very relevant for me as I’m moving through something quite heavy in my life right now. But aren’t we all 🫠
As someone who’s listened to hundreds of meditations online, this one is by far in my top 5. Thank you for your magic Kate!
I’m a hospice nurse and I have a patient who has a bird feeder suction cupped to her bedroom window. Such a small thing but it brought me sooo much joy to see the birdies while sitting with her. I love the idea of being a friend of nature 🥹
