Hello friends! Welcome to another edition of The Sunday R.E.S.E.T. where I share all things joy-inducing, random, and usually cozy.
Here’s what I’ve got in store this week:
READING: Our book club selection of the moment— so timely.
EATING: gluten. free. cinnamon. rolls. (*cue hallelujah chorus*)
SHOWERING (?!): Yes, I’m talking about bathing. A few [very random] things that have upgraded my shower experience lately…
EMBRACING: A flexible mindset with health over the holidays (to all of you perfectionists & “all or nothing” thinkers, this is for you.)
TREATING: Myself (well, treating Miles) to some new + cozy winter clothing items— and doing a quick roundup of my favorite places to shop for my baby boy!
Let’s get into it!
Currently, I'm immersed in "Wintering" by Katherine May. Such a beautiful reminder to slow down, embrace this colder season, and listen to my body’s—and mind’s— cues.
I’ve heard about this book for quite some time so I selected it for my seasonal virtual book club, and, boy oh boy, it is not disappointing. There's something truly special about reading this book during this time of year.
(In case ya missed it— I hold a virtual book club on zoom for all paid/VIP substack members once per season ◡̈ I find it such a lovely way to bring true connection to the somewhat-lonely internet land)
I'm loving it, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts at our book club gathering. If you’d like to join, there’s still have plenty of time to read the book before we gather in January ◡̈ Click here for all the deets.
Let’s talk about ALL-TIME favorite dessert. It’s not cookies. It’s not cake.
It’s…cinnamon rolls.
While it may be a little unconventional, they are truly my absolute favorite sweet treat everrrrr, and I’d take them over any cupcake, ice cream, or pastry. I said what I said.
(The chewy center??? The slightly-crisp exterior??? The frosting???? My mouth is watering as I type this).
That said, ever since becoming gluten-free over a decade ago, my chances to get have my MVP sweet treat have plummeted. Recently, I decided to take matter’s into my own hands and try to make a GF version that was moist, delicious, and filled the void, annnnnd…..
Boom, baby! SO GOOD.
I utilized this recipe (I added a little extra psyllium husk & splash of milk in hopes of a softer texture), and WOWZA. So good. Next time, I am tempted to try this recipe, but it looks a bit more tedious and time-intensive.
Now, are they the absolute BEST cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had? No. I would need gluten for that. 😂 But for us gluten-free folks, they're pretty dang good— especially straight out of the oven or warmed up. My tiny fam may or may not have polished off the whole pan in just a few days. It's been a spiritual experience, to say the least.
PSST: As a reminder, The Sunday R.E.S..E.T. is a new bonus offering. The first 2 letters of the R.E.S.E.T. are always open to everyone— I hope you enjoy! As a thank you to those who financially support my newsletter, paid members get the Sunday R.E.S.E.T. bi-weekly and VIP members receive it every week. ◡̈ Feel free to pick the plan that works best for you!
Now, onto the "S" in our R.E.S.E.T. routine….
Showering?!
When I first introduced this series, I said I would be switching up the acronym to fit a random (yet relevant) topic in my life each week. And here I am— being a woman of my word— and talking about my current SHOWER regimen? Stay with me, team.
While random, here are a few [uncommon] things that have upgraded my shower experience lately—
