☕️ Sunday R.E.S.E.T. #20
healthy meals for toddlers, the perfect summer shoe, & a powerful mindset shift
Hello, hello—
Happy Sunday, my friend. I hope your weekend has been the perfect blend of relaxing and caffeinated. ◡̈ We have spent the weekend going on walks, lounging in our pajamas, and meeting up with friends. Ordinary bliss!
To pair with your weekend plans, here’s a peek at what we’re chatting about in this week’s Sunday R.E.S.E.T —
👋🏼 A short ‘n’ sweet guest R.E.S.E.T.: The brilliant
is sharing a mini R.E.S.E.T. of her own. (I loved her book recs!)✨ Recommending: A to-don’t list? Hear me out...
🥬 Eating: The pre-made healthy meals that I feed my toddler when we’re in a pinch.
🛍 Shopping: I haven’t really been buying much lately, but here’s a mini roundup of items that I have been *very* tempted by…
📺 Enjoying: The TV series that both my husband and I love. (Also, let’s crowd source some ideas on male-female approved TV shows & movies in the comments, yes?)
💭 Thinking About: The ebbs and flows of life. Specifically, learning to lean into the specific stage of life you’re currently in. TBH, I got a little teary-eyed writing this section…
READING:
“I'm always reading at least two books — one fiction, one nonfiction, which I rotate depending on my mood. I just started The Husbands, a so-far hilarious novel about a woman whose attic magically produces an infinite number of husbands. For nonfiction, I'm re-reading The Perfectionist's Guide to Losing Control, which I read last year and found so helpful that I'm revisiting it, pen in hand.”
EATING:
“Granola Butter, particularly the Cinnamon Roll and Cookie Dough flavors. I love it stirred into Greek yogurt, paired with apple slices, or slathered on a slice of toasted seeded bread.”
SHOPPING:
“I recently purchased a pair of classic Levi's 501s, one size up from my usual, so they're comfortably loose and just a touch baggy. I'm barely over five feet tall (on a good day...with shoes on...) and the "cropped" version fits me without hemming.”
ENJOYING:
“The first glimpses of spring in NYC. I've been enlivened by outside time, park visits, and introducing my dog to new-to-her sights and scents. After a personally challenging winter, I'm fully embracing the season's spirit of rebirth and renewal.”
THINKING ABOUT:
In recent months, I've spent a lot of time pondering how to redefine and reframe certain terms so they align with my life (and values). "Success" is one. "Enough" is another. I recently wrote about some big ones, including "aging."
A huge thank you to Caroline for being my special guest this month and contributing to this week’s R.E.S.E.T. Her newsletter was one of the first I discovered on Substack, and it always feels like an exhale landing in my inbox. Highly recommend following
◡̈ Thanks again, Caroline! Now, without further ado, let’s jump into your regularly scheduled Sunday R.E.S.E.T. programming ⬇️
One thing I am recommending this week is creating your own personal to-don’t list.
Which is basically just my cheesy, branded, grammatically-incorrect way of telling you to grab a pen and paper and write a quick brain dump of things you want to stop doing:
Maybe it’s numbing out on social media, maybe it’s saying yes when you really mean no, maybe it’s your alcohol consumption, or letting others’ opinions stop you, or shopping mindlessly, or playing small, or or or…
You can let this be as fluffy or as deep as you want it to be, but the premise of this recommendation is to make a short and sweet list of the things that you want to stop wasting you precious time and mental energy on.
Cheesy it as it may be, there can be power in calling out these habits & limiting beliefs!
Tell me if you relate to this— it’s a busy day, you have frantic energy, you’re trying to pull a meal together for your family, annnnnd the fridge feels empty with hardly any fresh produce or healthy food to work with. 🫠🫠
Sounds familiar, yes?
So, today, I’m sharing one of my best hacks for feeding my toddler on such days— Little Spoons.
One of my greatest parenting hacks is to have stash of healthy pre-made meals in the freezer. These things are clutch for the holy-crap-we-have-nothing-in-the-fridge moments when you still need something easy & balanced to feed to your kid.
In just a few minutes, he had turkey meatballs, sweet potato, and zucchini, and demolished every bite. Protein, veggie, and ready-to-go? Check, check, check!
While I do mainly try to cook and prepare healthy, whole foods to my toddler— sometimes ya just need convenience, am I right? So, I’ve just done my best to find a frozen meal option that still has clean ingredients and lots of veggies and protein, and Little Spoons fits the healthy bill. Highly recommend!
For reference, we order 1 box of the meals every 2-3 months and keep them in the freezer for those “in a pinch” moments. Not sponsored in any way. I buy these meals 100% with my own money, but just sharing a refer-a-friend link for $20 off!
I haven’t really been shopping much lately (go me!), but here are a few things I was verrrrry tempted to go click “check out” on—
