On Your Phone Too Much? 😅 12 Hacks to Reduce Your Screen Time
A very refreshed hellooooooo to you today, my friends!
I’m coming at you live having just taken one full MONTH off of social media [insert alleluia angel praise chorus here].
Curious how it felt? ^^Here ya go.
but first, how did we get here?!
You may be wondering, “Kate, why did you feel the NEED to take a social media detox? Especially as a small business owner?!”
Well, my friend.
To put it simply— because these screens & scrolls & apps were starting to distract from TRUE productivity, from TRUE soul-filling moments, from TRUE fulfillment.
Do I hate social media? No. I truly don’t.
Am I proud of the community I have built & cultivated? Yes. Yes, I am.
But I can feel when the pendulum swings too far, I can feel when I’m distracted, and I can feel when I’m using my phone a little (ahem, a lot) more than I’d like.
Because while these apps are fun. They are inspiring. They are creative.
They ALSO can waste time & distract you & consume you (if you’re not careful)
a hard reset—
If you’ve been following along on my instagram for a while, you’ll know that my taking of a social media break is nothing new. For about 5 years now, I have taken a one week break about once per season (winter, spring, summer, fall).
And these 7-day stretches were wonderful! Sometimes challenging! Refreshing!
…but, the one thing they all had in common? They never felt quite long enough.
a 30-day challenge
Feeling unsatisfied with my normal week-long social media breaks, I was ready to take it to the next level.
When I was writing down my 2023 goals, one of mine was to take an entire MONTH off of social media.
Because, while Instagram is part of my job, I am *also* a consumer of it. I spend more time on apps (lookin’ @ u, Instagram and TikTok!) than I care to admit, I can get stuck in the slot-machine-feeling of the never-ending scroll.
and I felt a true DESIRE—almost a craving— to log off, unplug, and do a true RESET of my social media. usage.
And, you guys, it was…
