My Spending Freeze: Part II
An (honest) peek behind my decision for less. The HARDEST part of not buying anything for a month, annnnnd what I broke the rules on ;)
Kate’s Spending Freeze…. the SEQUEL.
(I promise this won’t be like the Fast and Furious franchise that released approximately 72 more renditions than they should have)
As you read in Part I of my no-spend-month, I did hard reset in February of this year, and made the decision to not buy anything for a whole month. (other than groceries, home necessities, etc. You can revisit all of the specific ~rules~ in my other post!),
So, today, I want to go over my *actual* experience of a no-spend-month:
my reflections,
my aha moments,
what I was [verrrrry] tempted to buy,
what I regretted NOT buying
what I DID ultimately break the rules on (rebel!),
and everything I learned along the way. So let’s jump in!
So *why* do a spending freeze?
To refresh, this no-spend-month really wasn’t about the amount of money I was spending, it was the mindset behind my purchases.
It’s hard to describe, but just getting the “ick” about over-consuming in general, and just had a clear desire for LESS.
Like, I was sick of buying an extra book (…when I already had a stack I hadn’t read yet), buying a skincare product (…even though I hadn’t used what I already had), etc. And going into this year I wanted less clutter and fewer unnecessary items.
To sum it up, I solely want to be surrounded by things that I genuinely love, need, and find useful.
How was my spending freeze experience?
So, a spending freeze it was.
28 days of buying NOTHING “extra” outside of the essentials.
At the conclusion of the month, my friend asked me how the spending freeze went, and I was shocked at the first word that immediately popped into my head…
