Falafel Recipes, Hiking Gear, And... Laundry Detergent? 🤔 (Stay With Me...)
Sunday R.E.S.E.T. #28
Hello, hello!
I’m currently writing this from my weekly IV iron infusion. Despite oral supplements and consuming iron-rich foods, I’m facing some pregnancy-induced anemia— which is much more common with multiples.
It’s nothing major or overly concerning, but I sure am glad to be getting treated! Because, let’s just say, I was… exhausted.
(In 8 weeks time, my ferritin dropped from 91 to… 7 😅 Growing twins is no joke!)
Honestly, this pregnancy has been a ride. Emotionally, I'm in awe—grateful, shocked, and overjoyed to be expecting twins. But physically? I've felt so much more drained, depleted, and uncomfortable than I ever did with my singleton pregnancy. It's been a humbling! And a powerful reminder that every pregnancy is different.
Between the 3x weekly IVs for hyperemesis that I received for months and now these weekly iron infusions, I estimate that I’ve had at least 35 IV infusions alone this pregnancy! Plus, maternal-fetal medicine appointments, frequent ultrasounds, and more OB visits. It’s been… a lot.
But, honestly, I don’t mind the extra appointments— I can be quite anxious in pregnancy so I love that my twins are being watched closely. While it’s been busy, I am truly receiving phenomenal care.
And, thankfully, both babies are doing great in there! They’re growing big and strong— but just taking a lot out of momma in the process 🤣😅🫠😴
As I always say, I love a holistic approach to health and pregnancy (here are 24 tips!), but I’m also so grateful for modern medicine. Twin pregnancies are inherently higher risk, and I am so thankful to have found an amazing OB who is so holistically-minded while also being rooted in modern medicine. As a registered nurse with my doctorate in integrative health, I love the “grey” area when both approaches to health are respected and utilized— and that’s definitely been the case this pregnancy!
So, that’s all for my life update— now it’s time for YOUR Sunday R.E.S.E.T.
☕️ Here’s what’s in store…
🔨 REPAIRING: A gentle nudge to make the most of what you have—fix what’s broken and dial down the consumption.
🧼 ENJOYING: I never thought I’d have this strong of a recommendation for a… laundry detergent?
🥾 SWOONING OVER: The chicest, most timeless, and eco-friendly hiking gear collection I've ever laid eyes on.
🥙 EATING: A falafel recipe that our group chat hasn’t shut up about…
💭 THINKING ABOUT: Reflecting on the in-between seasons of life— an ode to the the ‘soons,' the 'not yets,' and the 'somedays.' (Also, a glimpse of what I was going to wear for my baby sprinkle… if only my Nuuly box hadn’t gone missing in the mail! 🤣)
Let’s jump in!
I’ll admit it— it can be far too easy to give up on broken items in our hyper-consumeristic society.
Toss it, replace it, and move on.
But, lately, I have been making a conscious effort to at least try to fix an item that breaks.
My mindset switched last fall when my toddler knocked over one of my favorite, handmade coffee mugs, and the handle broke into 3 different pieces. Honestly, if it had been another generic mug, I likely would’ve just tossed it.
But this mug in particular was one of my favorites, and I was determined to save it. So, I picked up some 'ceramic glue' (whatever that is???) and gave it a shot. During the repair, the handle kept falling apart— but after a few tries, it finally stuck.
…And 9 months later, I am still sipping my morning coffee out of this mug.
And honestly? The whole experience inspired me— since then, I have superglued one of my favorite turquoise earrings back together, unshrunk a wool sweater, [very poorly] sewed some small tears in my clothing, become a mad scientist trying to remove stains, and even re-stuffed my toddler’s favorite teddy bear.
The one thing these all had in common? The fact that I am not an expert or Mrs. Fix-It, but that I simply guessed, got resourceful, and tried my best.
You might not know exactly how to do it, and it likely won’t be the ‘proper’ way, but 7 out of 10 times, the makeshift solution is good enough.
And if it isn’t, you’re no worse off than if you hadn’t tried.
So, let this be a gentle reminder to all of us: at least *try* to fix what’s broken, worn out, or giving you trouble. It’s kinder to the environment, it saves you money, and I’ve found it to be quite empowering!
Let me be clear— I never, ever, ever thought anything related to laundry would be under my “enjoying” section, but alas, life is full of surprises.
As you guys know, I’m passionate about reducing my exposure to toxins, endocrine disruptors, and unnecessary chemicals within my home. Back in 2019, one of the first swaps I made was switching to a nontoxic laundry detergent, and I’ve never looked back! It’s such an easy and low-effort way to reduce your exposure to unnecessary chemicals.
Since that time, I have used a couple of clean laundry brands consistently. They were good! They got the job done! I had no real complaints!
But, I recently tried a different option on a whim— and, you guys, it is BY FAR the best nontoxic laundry detergent I’ve tried yet.
Why do I like it more? Well, it;s made of clean, nontoxic, and plant-baesd ingredients, but it smells and functions more like 'normal' detergent.
(A lot of nontoxic laundry stuff smells sort of… plain? And, well, earthy 🤣)
But not this one. The scent much more fresh and noticeable (in a good way!). Plus, it functions great, and it’s a lot more affordable than other nontoxic brands— I’m loving it and highly recommend!
This is completely unsponsored, and I bought mine with my own money—but I reached out and got an affiliate coupon for you guys (yay!). Click this link to save 25% ◡̈ I am truly loving it!
Prepare to SWOON.

It’s classic while being unique.
