Hello, hello!
It’s time for your Sunday R.E.S.E.T. 💌 This is my bi-weekly recap of curated topics, recommendations, and casual life updates!
This series is one of my favorite parts of The Reset, and today is no exception…
Today, our Sunday R.E.S.E.T. will include:
🌼 RECOMMENDING: A holistic perspective on… dandelions?
🔨 ENHANCING: A before & after of our hallway!
🛍 SHOPPING: This twin baby bump be GROWING! In this section, I am recapping some of my favorite maternity clothing options.
💭 ENJOYING: Some fresh inspiration for positive affirmations.
🧘🏻♀️ TRYING: A grounding ritual that I’ve been loving lately (and it only takes 2 minutes per day!)
Today, I am recommending that you view those “pesky weeds” in a new way! Did you know dandelions have many potential health benefits? From root to stem to leaves to flower, this species is packed with various health benefits.
Not only do dandelions (Taraxacum officinale) contain iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, and plentiful amounts of vitamins A, C, and K, (source), they are also full of polyphenols, beta-carotene, and inulin. A true nutrient powerhouse!
With all of these amazing components, these “weeds” are shown to support digestion and liver function while providing anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, prebiotic, and diuretic qualities. (Source)
While the taste is a bit bitter, dandelions can be a delicious addition to a meal. You could add the flowers fresh to salads or make a jam, sauté the leaves, roast the roots, or even make a pesto from the leaves! For eating, the leaves can essentially be used as any other green—adding fresh to salads or cooking them in hot dishes. (Of course, be sure to pick from areas that have not been treated with fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, etc.)
While the entire flower is technically edible, I understand if you’re not into that. You can always sip dandelion tea* as an easier, more accessible option. This is one of my personal ways to consume this nutrient powerhouse year-round.
I just wanted this to be a PSA that dandelions have so many health benefits— root to tip! But, as always, check with your doctor before starting any supplement ◡̈
We are enhancing… our hidden hallway!
I call it our “hidden” hallway as it is quite literally tucked behind a secret door (yes, really).
As you may or may not know, we bought a verrrry quirky mid-century modern home nearly three years ago, and it is truly our happy place. I love living here.
While it is forever a “work in progress”, we have had so much fun doing projects in this time capsule home. We have tried our best to honor this unique its history and time period, but also make it a bit more us in the process.
And one example of that is this hallway. When we moved in, it was dark, very green, filled with some, um, interesting wallpaper, and just generally feeling a bit mismatched and outdated.
Typically, with house projects, we focus on ONE specific room and really go to town until it’s complete—but this hallway has been much more gradual. Since we moved in, we have been slowly-but-surely upgrading this space, and I finally feel like it is nearly “complete.”
I wanted to honor the green hues and wallpaper usage, but make it feel a bit more modern and bright.
And, let’s be clear— I know this transformation won’t necessarily be everyone’s style, but we love it! If there’s one thing to know about this home—it’s pretty much the opposite of the “sad beige” aesthetic. We have lots of color, wallpaper, and quirk happening around these parts ◡̈
So, while there are still a few small projects I still want to do, here is a peek at the “after.”
