Sunday R.E.S.E.T. #16: a delicious (and healthy!) breakfast and... AARP?
plus, a before & after of our bathroom reno ๐
Happy Sunday!
After feeling in a funk for a few weeks , I am getting back into my grooveโ more peaceful, more in tune with myself, and Iโve caught some small [much-needed] glimmers of humanity lately:
๐ฅบ The stoic businessman wearing a suit who jogged a block after me to hand me my toddlerโs shoe that had unknowingly fallen off. Thank you, kind sir!
๐ A particularly beautiful sunset over Lake Superior, and watching a sweet, middle-aged couple throw rocks in the water as the sun dipped.
๐ An out-of-the-blue piece of snail mail from one of my long-distance friends who printed out a few photos of us from her wedding along with a handwritten note encouraging me on The Reset. (I love you, Lizzy!)
๐งธ The sweetest stuffed animal moment. When I was pregnant, my Grandpa Ron gave me a stuffed animal puppy that he had received free in the mailโฆ. from A.A.R.P. (The sweetest ๐ฅบ) Fast-forward 18 months, and it is genuinely my sonโs favorite toy. He is constantly carrying around this dog with an AARP logo on its collar. Itโs hilarious, of course, but also weirdly meaningful to me. #GrandpaRonFanClub #MilesSupportsRetirees
๐ The kind parking attendant who let me out of the ramp for free after my card had an odd bend in it and wouldnโt scan properly. Thank you for being so understanding!
I have nothing overly profound to add to this hodgepodge of sweet moments, but moreso a reminder to keep your eyes open to the humanness that surrounds you.
It can be easy to forget, but I truly believe that *most* people at their core are GOOD, decent humansโ but sometimes we need to consciously open our eyes to really notice the fleeting moments of humanness, connection, & pure intentions that surround us each and every day.
Okay, sappiness aside, letโs get into our Sunday R.E.S.E.T., eh?
On todayโs R.E.S.E.T agenda:
๐ READING: A hodgepodge of articles, posts, books, & interviews that have stuck out to me lately.
๐ฅฃ EATING: The easy make-ahead breakfast that tastes like dessert.
๐๏ธ SHOPPING: Reviewing my โemptiesโ and the products I recently restocked, refilled, and re-ordered.
๐๏ธEMBRACING: A brief reflection on quiet time, slowing down, spirituality, & faith in this season of life.
๐ TRANSFORMING: Sharing our before & after transformation of our bathroom! (This was our first-ever โbigโ renovation, and we are so happy with how it turned outโฆ)
One of the most beautiful personal essays Iโve read in a long time by
This short โnโ sweet poem by Wendy Cope, shared by
.The Rise of the Accidentally Permissive Parent. โAll type-A parents would love to think theyโve figured out the โbestโ way to parent,โ says Hershberg, โThat goes for hard-core gentle proponents, traditionalists, and hybrids in the middleโฆ. Itโs harder to accept that itโs complicated.โ"
Undoubtedly, the MOST joy-inducing, millennial-approved thing I read this week. In fact, I liked it so much I read it twiceโ
