As you may have realized, I am passionate about making health & wellness feel realistic and relatable for everyday, busy people (…just like you😉)
And one thing I strive to normalize is that NO ONE has it all together, all of the time.
Whether it’s nutrition, sleep, mindfulness, or beyond— 99.9% of us have something we are actively trying to improve with our wellbeing.
And I’m no different!
So, today, I am sharing the specific ways that I am trying improve my own health lately.
Because, while I am a registered nurse, have my doctorate degree, work as a board-certified health coach, and even teach college courses focused on wellbeing— I’m still human and am working to improve my health right alongside ya!
Sure, I do try to have a baseline commitment and consistency when it comes to my wellbeing, but inevitably certain habits will ebb and flow— and today I am talking about some changes that I have been making for my health recently.
The fun part of this post? I originally wrote this list as summer was coming to a close and I have since been working on these habits throughout the fall— therefore, I can share the “before”, “middle”, and “after” of some of these changes and what I’ve noticed in the process.
It’s funny because my health aspirations tend to shift based on season of life, season of year, and relevant needs at that time. It’s hard to describe, but I sort of treat myself like a human guinea pig and am constantly switching things up, experimenting, trying different health habits out for size—
For example, sometimes my health “focus” of the moment will be meditation and stress reduction, at other times my attention is primarily on pregnancy/postpartum/breastfeeding, and at different moments I am wanting to set a PR in running or get to the root cause of a pesky symptom.
While my overall commitment to health and the basics of nutrition, exercise, & sleep remain quite constant, my specific focus often can (and will!) change.
And lately I've been feeling the pull to elevate multiple areas of my wellbeing—
As a millennial working mom navigating life's hustle and bustle (and finally reclaiming my body after postpartum), prioritizing my health and reconnecting with some of my favorite healthy habits has been super empowering— and challenging— lately.
So while I typically love sharing actionable ways to improve your health — today I am sharing the 6 specific things *I* am working to improve lately to enhance my overall health and wellbeing, and take it to the next level. Because “good enough” doesn’t feel good enough lately.
From specific lab work to grocery shopping alllll the way to reclaiming my health postpartum, nutrition, how I consume alcohol, lymphatic health & sweat, and switchin’ up my workout routine, I am digging into it below!
