43 unique ideas for self-care 🌼
I asked, and YOU answered. A list of your favorite ways to get out of a funk.
Mmmmm, Sundays—
This may be a hot take, but….
Sundays are one of my favorite days of the week.
Yes, really.
I know a lot of people get the “Sunday scaries”, and while I absolutely can relate to that feeling on occasion, typically Sundays bring me a sense of peace. of inspiration. of ease.
And here’s why—
I feel like each day of the week has its own specific ~vibe~, and Sundays just have the most beautiful blend of productivity *and* relaxation for me? Anyone else?
It feels like an opportunity to get organized *and* an opportunity to rest.
A chance to cross items off my to-do list *and* a chance to do some self-care.
A day to prepare for the week ahead *and* to recover from the previous week.
So, to make the most of this juicy energy, I have established a little weekly ritual that I do each and every Sunday— a simple way “reset”, get back in routine, and prepare for the upcoming week.
It’s truly game-changing, and if ya keep reading, I am going to share 38 specific ways YOU can implement a “mini reset” into your own life— starting today. Let’s do this!
First, it’s important to note that are 2 distinct sides to the Sunday “reset”:
ONE IS PRACTICAL: catching up laundry, cleaning out your car, meal planning, answering emails, paying bills, etc.
AND
ONE IS SELF-CARE FOCUSED: laying on the couch watching TV, going to a yoga class, getting brunch, painting your nails, taking a long bath, etc.
No matter which route you choose the end goal is the same— leaving the day feeling REFRESHED.
Sometimes that clear, inspired mindset will come from logical action (chores, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc.), other times it may come from self-care, rest, & relaxation, and often it is a mish-mash blend of the 2—
But regardless, the end goal is to use your Sunday reset in order to enter the upcoming week with clear, fresh energy.
What this looks like in my own life—
For me, the “Sunday reset” is very fluid. It can (and often will!) look different each week.
Sometimes it’s really logical and concrete, and others it is more gentle and intuitive, but the one thing it has in common is that it’s always a conscious decision to identify 2-3 things you want to do on that specific Sunday in order to set myself up for a successful, joyful, and peaceful week. *ahhhh*
And, don’t get it twisted— it doesn’t take me all day. I’m not overly productive.
But, moreso, it’s just identifying a couple of *specific* things that will help me reset mentally, feel a sense of peace, and get into a healthy routine before the whirlwind of a new week begins.
The basics, but with intention—
Here’s the thing— I don’t want to over-glamorize this ritual because is really just boils down to doing the basics (healthy eating, cleaning, getting organized, relaxing), but doing these basics *with* extra intention:
Doing a deep clean of my bathroom (instead of just a quick wipe down).
Going on a hike in nature (instead of just walking around my neighborhood)
Changing the sheets (instead of just making the bed).
Taking a long cozy bath (instead of just a rushed shower)
